Can you make a Fortnite map on your phone? What Epic says, and another way to make a game

This page is written by the DreamCore team. DreamCore is not Fortnite and isn't connected to Epic Games. The short answer: Fortnite Creative is listed for Android and iOS, so you can build islands on a phone where Fortnite runs. Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) runs on PCs only. Getting an island in front of the public is a separate step with its own rules. Epic facts below come from its official pages checked on October 29, 2026. We have not made the same project in both tools, so this is not a quality ranking.

What Epic says about building on a phone

• Fortnite Creative runs on phones. Epic's install guide lists Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4 and 5, Android, iOS and PC, and says you can create Fortnite islands on these platforms. You open Creative from inside Fortnite.
• UEFN is PC only. The same guide says "UEFN runs on PCs only". The minimum it lists is 64-bit Windows 10 (version 1909, revision .1350 or later), 16 GB of RAM and a GPU like an Nvidia GTX 960 or AMD R9 280.
• You need an Epic Games account. Epic says that if you are under 13, a parent or guardian needs to create the account for you.
• Fortnite has to be on your phone first. We did not check where Fortnite is available on iPhone or Android in each country.

Sharing an island: private codes vs. public

• Private versions for testing. Epic's publishing guide says playtesters can open a private version with its private version code. Private versions skip moderation, so they are not public.
• Public islands go through review. To publish from the Creator Portal, you fill in the IARC questionnaire for an age rating, and the island has to pass moderation of its details, assets and gameplay. Islands that use experimental features cannot be published.
• The Developer Program has an age rule. Epic's Fortnite Developer Program page says you must be at least 18 and meet a purchase requirement to enroll. We did not confirm every publishing route for younger creators, so check the Creator Portal for your own account.

Which one fits what you want?

• You want your map inside Fortnite, for Fortnite players: Fortnite Creative on your phone or console, or UEFN on a Windows PC for the full editor.
• You want a game that anyone can open from a link, on a phone, without installing anything: DreamCore. You describe the game in chat in your phone's browser, play it, fix it by chatting, and send the link.

Try a small game first

A short round with one rule is the easiest to finish. Try one of these in DreamCore:

1. "A 3D arena where I dodge falling meteors for 30 seconds, with a score and a restart button."
2. Play it on your phone and check the joystick, the score and the ending.
3. Fix one thing at a time in chat, like "the meteors are too fast at the start, make them speed up slowly".
4. Publish it, then open the link on a friend's phone.
