This page is written by the DreamCore team, so we run one of the two tools on it. Scratch is a free way to learn coding by snapping blocks together, and it is great at that. DreamCore is a different thing: you write the game you want in chat, on your phone, and share it as a link. Scratch facts below come from its official pages checked on October 29, 2026. We have not built the same project in both tools, so this is not a quality ranking.
The short answer
- You want to learn how code works, step by step: Scratch. Its whole point is building logic from blocks, and it is free for everyone.
- You only have a phone and want a game today without arranging blocks: DreamCore. You describe the game in chat in your phone's browser, play it, fix it by chatting, and send the link.
These goals don't cancel each other out. You can learn with blocks and also make quick games by chatting.
Scratch and DreamCore side by side
| Question | DreamCore | Scratch (official pages) |
|---|---|---|
| How do I make a game? | Write what you want in chat. Each message changes the same game. No blocks or code to arrange. | Drag and snap code blocks together to build the logic yourself. |
| Can I make it on a phone? | Yes, in the browser on iPhone and Android. An iOS app is optional. | The editor works "in most web browsers on most devices". Its Android app works on tablets only, not phones. |
| Is it free? | The free plan lets you make, play and share games, with a daily limit on new games and chat edits. No card needed. | Scratch says it is free for everyone. |
| Who is it for? | Anyone who wants to make a small game; built phone-first. | Scratch lists an age range of 8 to 13+. ScratchJr, for ages 5 to 7, runs on tablets. |
| 3D? | Yes, press 3D. Phones get touch controls like an on-screen joystick. | Not covered in this comparison. |
| How do friends play? | Send a link. They play in the browser with no app and no account. | Projects are shared in Scratch's moderated online community. |

What changes when there are no blocks
On Scratch, you decide exactly how each rule works, because you build it. That is why it is such a good way to learn.
On DreamCore, you describe the rule and the AI builds it. That is faster on a small screen, but you still have to check the result. An AI result can need fixes. Play to the end and test it:
- Does the first screen explain the controls?
- Do the controls work with your thumb?
- Does the score go up when it should?
- Does the game end, and does restarting reset everything?
If something is off, write just that one problem in chat, for example "the jump is too short, make it higher but keep the speed the same", and test again.
Try the same tiny game
A fair test is the same small idea in both tools: a character moves left and right, catches stars for 20 seconds, sees a score and can restart. In Scratch, you build it with blocks. In DreamCore, you write that sentence in chat. Our star-catching example walks through it from prompt to a published link. If you only have a phone, read how making a game on your phone works.

Frequently asked questions
Is DreamCore a Scratch app for phones?
No. DreamCore is not Scratch and is not connected to it. It does not use code blocks. You make games by writing in chat.
Can I use Scratch on my phone?
Scratch says its editor works in most web browsers on most devices, and its Android app works on tablets, not phones. We have not tested how comfortable the editor is on a phone screen.
Can I bring my Scratch project into DreamCore?
This page does not describe an importer. You can describe your idea in chat and make a new game from it.
Will DreamCore teach me to code like Scratch?
That is not what it is built for. If learning coding with blocks is your goal, Scratch is designed for exactly that.
Is this comparison independent?
No. The DreamCore team wrote it. Scratch facts come from its official pages on October 29, 2026; we have not run a matched quality or speed test.
Is DreamCore affiliated with Scratch or MIT?
No. The Scratch name belongs to its owners and is used here only to describe their product.
